While the product might look like a glorified dressing-gown, and the advert contains some questionable humour, Snuggies sales figures can’t be argued with. Their original TV adverts kick-started the brand’s success when they made it onto the Internet and quickly went viral, and now the company is grabbing their online video success with both hands by encouraging audiences to generate video content for them.
Their online competition is encouraging Snuggies fans to create and upload their own commercial, song or parody with the chance to produce or appear in an official advert. Whether Snuggies step back approach will be a success remains to be seen, but the Snuggie sense of humour certainly seems to have rubbed off on entries uploaded so far.
