YouTube Stars Get The Hollywood Treatment

The online video industry is filled with movie trailers, and this week Hollywood seems to have to really embraced the connection between movie stars and YouTube stars.

With the hotly tipped Chronicle being released this week the guys at 20th Century Fox and Big Frame knew they had to get their skates on if they wanted to promote it successfully within the online video community.

Fortunately Fox was responsible for the hugely viral video of an Ape with an AK-47, which promoted Rise of the Planet of the Apes so they have a great deal of experience in infiltrating the Internet video world. Although Fox have also come up a bit short with at this sort of thing before too, so what did they do to ensure nothing but success?

Well they roped in YouTube stars DeStorm, MrDeshawnRaw and Mystery Guitar Man on the act, who combined have a subscriber base of over 3,500,000 users to explore what would happen if a viral star like DeStorm had the Chronicle gift of Telekinesis.

So was the video campaign a success? With the DeStorm video achieving only 366,360 views and the movie Chronicle being released in movie theatres today (February 3rd) it will be up to the box office ticket sales to decide.
