It’s Videos Of The Week time at Skeleton HQ where we showcase some of the online video highlights of this past week.
Right Up My Street
The chaps at Broadway Cinema in Nottingham have got over 100 young people working together with film industry professionals to write, design, direct, production, score and edit a feature film called Right Up My Street. To celebrate the Launch Day of this excellent Nottinghamshire film event the crew tested their skills with a fantastic promo video. The result as you can see is a brilliant promotional video for a brilliant project.
The New Vimeo
In the wake of YouTube’s recent website redesign Vimeo also decided to switch things up on their site too. The new site caters to the true wants and needs of its video sharing users and helps to make finding, viewing and sharing video content on the site easier than ever before. Vimeo’s clean, crisp and creative new look doesn’t just stop at the website, oh no it also comes complete with a very suave new promotional video. Take a look:
Perfume Genius
There’s several ways to make an exceptional marketing video, this is not one of those ways. Here is perhaps the most visually awkward marketing video we’ve ever seen, so much so we bizarrely started to enjoy it towards the end of this week… Prepare to laugh, cringe or just simply walk away from your computer, this ladies and gentlemen is bad online video marketing 101.
Team Need 4 Speed
The members of BASE proximity flying are perhaps the most extreme individuals we’ve ever laid eyes on, and this new series Need 4 Speed documents just how crazy flying at 100MPH inches above rocks, boulders and general danger really is. This opening video titled ‘Insight’ works as a great promotional web video for the series, drawing audiences into its mind blowing content through beautiful cinematography and human insanity. Please don’t try this at home.
The Golf War
Contrary to popular belief the golf course is not a tranquil destination. In fact golf is perhaps the only sport on earth where combatants truly wage an all out war to become champion… Okay, perhaps we’re over exaggerating, but you’d be surprised how over exaggerating can create one of the finest, most entertaining pieces of viral video on the web. Don’t believe us? See for yourself:
Project Yosemite
Project Yosemite was set up by Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty to capture the true beauty of Yosemite through creative uses of timelapse. The final video, shot in fantastic high definition is utterly jaw dropping. If online users hadn’t ever pictured a trip to Yosemite before, they certainly will now. We suggest you arm yourself with a smooth cup of tea, sit back and enjoy.
Lifecycle
Red Peak Branding got Hudson Urban Bikes to set up an “urban experiment” for the online masses to partake in. The experiment was to chain a bike in a public area and photograph it once every day for 365 days. Of course the guys at Hudson Urban Bikes tested it out first, and surprisingly the footage makes for a very unique production.
One Hour Per Second
Infographics have really been changing the way we digest data over the past few years and the launch of YouTube’s One Hour Per Second website take infographics to its most entertaining, informative and creative level yet. To celebrate the websites launch YouTube released this much, much, much, much, much shorter version of the online video data site in brilliantly animated bite-size promotional video form:
Now you’ve had a taster of One Hour Per Second it’s time to experience the real thing:
