The Power of Explainers

An explainer video enables you to convey either a complex product / service or a powerful idea…

…and with half a billion people now watching videos on social media every single day, very soon video traffic will represent 80% of all consumer online traffic.

An explainer video usually takes the form of a bite-sized piece of video content often around one to two minutes in length.  They come in many different forms including (but not limited to);

  • Character animation explainers – as used by our client Henkel
  • Graphics explainers
  • Piece to camera explainers

So what makes a really strong explainer video?

  • Short in length: as we’ve mentioned above a good explainer video will run for between one to two minutes
  • Clear call to action: when needed an explainer video should clearly state what the viewer should do after watching such as ‘book a demo’, ‘get in touch’ or ‘learn more’
  • Focus on solving a problem: at the heart of every successful explainer video is a powerfully articulated, seemingly simple message.  One of the key skills we have at Skeleton is the ability to simplify; to cut through all the information and jargon and see exactly what needs to be communicated to your intended audience
  • Match brand and audience: ensure your explainer video matches your brand style and tone as well as being a match to the viewer you’re trying to reach
  • High quality: explainer videos need to be high quality both in terms of production and quality of content in order to effectively communicate your brand, your product / service, your idea
